Minnesconsin: Oktoberfest and NTHP Conference
Members of Wander Group started October with a tour of Minnesota and Wisconsin towns and concluded with the National Trust for Historic Preservation Conference in St. Paul. The focus of the tour was cultural heritage and it was successful- rolling along the Mississippi, we met with colleagues in Red Wing and Winona and visited towns affected by recent floods. Our tour concluded in LaCrosse, Wisconsin with grand parades and oompah bands playing our favorite polkas- prosit!
As always, the National Trust Conference was an excellent educational experience and a wonderful opportunity to re-connect with our historic preservation colleagues. Wander Group supplemented the Conference by meeting with community development practitioners from the metropolitan area. Special thanks to: Anne Briseno of East Side Neighborhood Development Corporation; Bob Miller of Minneapolis Neighborhood Revitalization Program; Kristen Guild of Minneapolis Great Streets; Kris Nelson of CURA; and Mihailo Temali of the Neighborhood Development Center. By meeting with these professionals, we were able to expand our knowledge base and find out what programs are working!
