January 20-23rd brought members of Wander Group to Hartsville and Bennettsville, South Carolina, where they teamed with the National Trust Main Street Center. These highly intense visits were a combination of program assessment and technical assistance for these two communities. We were able to meet more than a dozen representatives from each community as we ascertained the strengths and weaknesses of the local organizations’ revitalization efforts. Both communities demonstrated positive examples of community organizing and implementing Main Street principles. We look forward to summarizing our findings in reports that will help these communities build on their momentum!  |
